EMDR INTENSIVES – MARYLAND – NEVADA – SOUTH CAROLINA – VERMONT
You have been carrying this long enough.
EMDR Intensives are how you finally put it down
Last Updated: May 2026
Focused, extended trauma therapy for high-achieving professionals and therapy-savvy adults who are ready for real, lasting change without waiting months to get there.
DOES THIS SOUND FAMILIAR?
You have done the work. So why does it still feel like this?
“I know where it comes from. I have talked about it for years. But it still triggers me.”
“I am a functioning adult. I do well in life. No one can tell but I feel like I’m falling apart.”
“I do not have time for months of weekly sessions. I need something that actually moves the needle.”
If you recognize yourself in any of those, you are in the right place. EMDR Intensives are designed for exactly this moment: when you are ready to stop managing the pain and start processing it.
WHY AN INTENSIVE?
Weekly therapy vs. an EMDR Intensive: what is the real difference?
Weekly therapy is a genuinely good option for ongoing support and steady progress. But if you are someone who moves with intention, who solves problems rather than waits them out, and who does not have months to spend slowly approaching the thing that is holding you back, an EMDR Intensive is built for the way you actually operate. Real movement in days, not a slow drip over a year.
Here is an honest, side-by-side comparison.
| What you are comparing | Weekly Therapy | EMDR Intensives |
|---|---|---|
| Session length | 50 minutes, once a week | 2 to 6 hours of focused work across 1 to 3 days |
| Momentum | 7 days between sessions means restarting every week | Sustained processing with no stop-and-start interruption |
| Time cost over 6 months | Roughly $3,700 at national average rate of $143/session | Starting at $1,950 in a fraction of the time |
| Best for | Ongoing support | Stuck trauma, busy schedules, accelerated results |
| Can I use both? | Yes, many clients combine approaches | Yes, intensives pair well with your existing therapist |
National average session rate: Zhu et al. (2024). “Insurance acceptance and cash pay rates for psychotherapy in the US.” Health Affairs Scholar. Cash pay rate averaged $143.26 per session across 175,000 private practice providers.
The $143 figure is a national average. Depending on your market, what you actually pay per session could be considerably higher or lower. The pattern holds regardless: weekly therapy at any market rate adds up significantly over the months complex trauma typically requires.
Individual results vary. Cost figures reflect private-pay rates and national averages. Your actual weekly therapy cost will depend on your location, your therapist’s credentials, and your insurance coverage. EMDR Intensives are not a replacement for ongoing care when clinically indicated.
A REAL TRANSFORMATION
What change actually feels like
She came in carrying more than 20 years of childhood trauma. The kind that had settled into her body as a constant tightness in her chest, a weight she had learned to live with. After her intensive, something had shifted. The pressure in her chest gone. Her shoulders felt lighter. For the first time in years, she felt hopeful. Like she did not have to carry the pain and anger anymore. Like it was not hers to hold forever.
Anonymized composite. Results vary by individual.
This is not a promise. Healing is not linear, and every person’s path is different. But this is what becomes possible when you give yourself the time, the space, and the right support to actually move through it.
WHO THIS IS FOR
EMDR Intensives may be right for you if this sounds like you
You are a busy professional who cannot commit to months of weekly sessions, but you are ready to do deep work in a focused block of time.
You already have a therapist and want to add EMDR to accelerate what you have been building together.
You have been in therapy before, you understand yourself well, but something still feels stuck and unreachable.
You are carrying childhood memories, attachment wounds, or relationship trauma that keeps resurfacing no matter what you do.
You have a specific memory, belief, or experience you are ready to process and move past.
You want evidence-based treatment from a certified clinician, not a platform, not an app.
THE PROCESS
What working with Judy looks like, step by step
Every intensive is built around your nervous system, your history, and your goals. Nothing is rushed. Here is how it unfolds.
STEP 1
Pre-intensive prep
90 to 120 minutes. We clarify your goals, review your history, and build the internal resources you will need. You arrive grounded and ready, not thrown into the deep end.
STEP 2
The intensive itself
2 to 6 hours across 1 to 3 days. Focused EMDR processing at your pace, with built-in breaks and constant clinical attunement. This is where the deep work happens.
STEP 3
Post-intensive integration
60 to 90 minutes. We make sense of what surfaced and map how your insights carry forward into daily life. You leave with clarity, not just relief.
This is not about pushing through pain. It is about creating the right conditions for meaningful, sustainable healing.

YOUR CLINICIAN
A real clinician, not an algorithm
The large mental health platforms are searchable directories dressed up as care. When there are thousands of therapists in a database, you are not a client. You are a match result.
EMDR Intensives requires a clinician who has taken the time to understand you before the work begins, who tracks your nervous system in real time, and who adjusts every step of the process accordingly. That is what 15 years of specialized clinical experience makes possible.
Judy Wang is an EMDRIA-Certified Therapist and licensed across four states. She works exclusively with adults navigating trauma, anxiety and OCD. She designed this intensive format specifically to honor the complexity of that work and to give you more than a 50-minute window to actually move through it.

COMMON QUESTIONS
Before you reach out, here is what people usually ask
Because it is not just 1 to 3 sessions. It is a structured program. A 6-hour package replaces what could take 6-12 months of weekly therapy. For many people, it is actually more cost-effective when you factor in the total investment over time. The prices also reflects the clinical preparation, and weekend and late evening availability not normally available.
Yes, and some of my clients prefer it this way. It can be hard to let go of a therapeutic relationship after so many years. At times, it can be helpful if you bring the foundation and context you have built with your existing therapist. The intensive gives you a focused space to go deeper, faster. Then you can return to your regular therapist, if needed, for continued support afterwards.
Research supports the effectiveness of virtual EMDR when it is delivered on a secure, appropriate platform, which is exactly what this practice uses. Many clients find that processing from their own familiar space actually enhances the work. No commute, no transition, just you in a place where you already feel safe.
Most clients experience a mix of relief, emotional tiredness, and clarity. Some shifts feel immediate. Others continue to settle in over the days and weeks that follow. Post-intensive integration support is built into every package specifically so you integrate the experience well.
That’s exactly what the free 20-minute consultation is for. No obligation, no pressure. You will leave knowing whether an intensive is right for you right now. And if it is not, Judy will tell you that honestly.
You have already been carrying this.
The question is how much longer
A free 20-minute consultation is the only next step. Just a real conversation about whether this is the right fit for where you are right now.
