Judy Wang, LCPC, CPC
If you’re here, you’re probably searching for a therapist who understands the real work of healing. I’m Judy Wang and I specialize in helping people untangle the anxiety, OCD, trauma and people pleasing habits that worksheets alone can’t fix. As an LCPC, I focus on the patterns that keep repeating no matter how hard you try to stop them.
I know how vulnerable it feels to choose a therapist because I’ve been in your shoes. My own experiences, some helpful, some not, shaped the foundation of my work. Those moments taught me just how vital the therapeutic relationship is to the healing process. Therapy isn’t just about techniques or tools; it’s about connection, trust and feeling safe enough to show up as your whole self.
That’s the space I’ve built here at Healing Hearts Counseling. A place where you don’t have to perform, hide or pretend to be okay. A place where you get to bring your whole self, messy, uncertain, overwhelmed, driven, exhausted, hopeful and know it will all be met with warmth and steady guidance.
One of my favorite quotes from Ralph Waldo Emerson is “The only person you are destined to become is the person you decide to be.” This is such a great reminder that you are the one who determines your future.
My Journey From Client to Therapist
My relationship with therapy began the moment I stepped into adulthood. Fresh out of college and starting my first full-time job, I realized early on that I was carrying things I didn’t want to bring with me into the rest of my life. Old patterns, unresolved pain from younger years and the uncertainty of figuring out who I wanted to become.
I found a wonderful therapist who unfortunately, didn’t take insurance. At $95 a session, the equivalent of roughly $180 today, it wasn’t something I could easily afford on an entry-level salary. But I knew it mattered, so I made it work. I made sacrifices, showed up every week and trusted the process. Looking back, that choice made life genuinely easier as the years went on. The things I had been carrying started to feel less heavy. I could breathe more. I could see more clearly. I could let go of what wasn’t mine to keep holding.
That experience never really left me. Even after becoming a therapist, I continued my own work. I explored EMDR therapy, which was one of the more profound experiences of my life and gave me a much deeper appreciation for what healing can look like.
The path to this career wasn’t a straight line. Through volunteer work, I kept finding myself drawn to kids who seemed to be quietly struggling, trying to make sense of a world that didn’t always make sense to them. That kept pulling at me and eventually I listened. I went back to school, earned my Master’s in Counseling and completed my supervision hours at a clinic before opening my private practice.
I initially focused my work around parents and children, becoming a Registered Play Therapist. That work taught me so much about how people, at any age, find ways to express what they can’t yet say out loud. Over time I shifted toward working with adults, particularly those navigating anxiety, trauma and OCD. I’ve noticed how often these three things are connected in someone’s life and I’ve learned so much from my clients about the nuances of their struggles as I have from any training or book.
What drives me is pretty straightforward. I believe people deserve to live without being weighted down by things they never asked to carry. I know what it took for me to make that investment in myself and I know it isn’t always easy. But I also know what becomes possible when you do.
Whether you’re navigating anxiety, intrusive thoughts, burnout, trauma or longstanding patterns that no longer fit who you want to be, I’m here to help you take the first steps toward real healing and lasting change.
You don’t have to stay stuck in old patterns

Judy's Specialties
~ Anxiety and People Pleasing
You’re reliable. Competent. The one people turn to because you always find a way to make things happen. But inside? You might feel stretched thin, overcommitted or quietly overwhelmed by the pressure to keep everyone happy while never disappointing anyone.
If you’ve ever thought:
- I don’t want to upset anyone.
- I can handle it and I always do.
- What if I say no and they think I’m selfish or difficult?
- I feel guilty putting myself first.
…you’re not alone. And you don’t have to keep living this way.
I specialize in working with driven adults who feel stuck in cycles of anxiety and people pleasing. Together, we’ll identify the beliefs that drive those patterns, gently unpack the fear of conflict or disapproval and help you build boundaries that feel empowering.
My approach is warm, collaborative and direct. I’ll help you understand why your mind defaults to certain responses, while also guiding you toward more aligned choices, ones rooted in your needs, your values and your long term wellbeing.
~ Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
OCD can make you feel like your brain is constantly working against you. You may find yourself stuck in loops of:
- Doubt
- Checking
- Reassurance seeking
- Mental rituals
- Avoidance
- Guilt or fear about thoughts you can’t control
OCD often feels isolating, confusing and exhausting. But it’s also treatable and you don’t have to fight it alone.
I use Exposure and Response Prevention Therapy (ERP), the gold standard, evidence-based approach for OCD. ERP helps you break the cycle of fear and compulsion by retraining your brain and building confidence in your ability to tolerate uncertainty.
OCD is not who you are. It’s something your brain does and we can work together to loosen its grip so you can reclaim your time, your life and your peace.
~ Trauma-Informed Treatment and EMDR
Trauma doesn’t always show up as flashbacks or nightmares. Sometimes it looks like:
- Emotional overwhelm
- Being “on edge”
- Difficulty trusting others
- Perfectionism or people pleasing
- Trouble relaxing
- Feeling disconnected
- Old memories that still feel “too fresh” when triggered
- An inner voice that’s harsh or unforgiving
Whether your trauma was a single event or a series of painful experiences over many years, healing is possible.
As an EMDRIA Certified EMDR Therapist, I take a trauma-informed, whole-person approach. EMDR helps your brain process and integrate those memories of the past, allowing you to move forward with more freedom and stability.
You don’t have to keep reliving the same patterns. EMDR gives us a way to gently process the experiences that still hold emotional weight, helping you release what’s no longer yours to carry.
~ EMDR Intensives
Many clients, especially accomplished, busy professionals, want deeper, more focused work without waiting months for relief. That’s where EMDR Intensives come in.
Intensives offer a premium, accelerated option for clients who want to make meaningful progress in a shorter amount of time. Instead of the 50-minute stop and start rhythm of weekly therapy, EMDR Intensives provide extended, uninterrupted time to process trauma, emotional patterns or anxiety drivers that have been blocking you for years.
Intensives can help with:
- Trauma that still feels “unfinished”
- Anxiety that escalates quickly
- People pleasing patterns rooted in past experiences
- Core memories or emotional triggers that feel “stuck”
- Feeling frustrated by slow weekly progress
As a Certified EMDR therapist, I structure intensives carefully, with support before, during and after the process. You’ll never be rushed, you’ll always be grounded and you’ll have a clear plan tailored to your goals.
If you’re looking for a powerful, high-impact way to create emotional movement without committing to months of weekly sessions, EMDR Intensives may be a strong fit.
What You Can Expect in Therapy
Therapy is a deeply personal experience. I want you to feel comfortable bringing your whole self into our work together. All the fears you haven’t shared with anyone, the thoughts you’re worried might be “too much” and the parts of yourself you’re still figuring out.
I’ll meet you with empathy and curiosity. But I’ll also gently challenge you when it’s time to take those first steps toward change. My goal is to help you feel empowered. Not just to understand what’s holding you back but to move forward with confidence and clarity.
Whether we’re working on resisting compulsions, processing past trauma or letting go of people pleasing, I’ll be right there with you. Therapy is hard work but it doesn’t have to feel impossible and you don’t have to do it alone.
Professional Background
I have 15 years of clinical experience in counseling and mental health, and I’m recognized by EMDRIA as a Certified EMDR Therapist. I’m specially trained in ERP for OCD and integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and EMDR with a trauma-informed, whole-person framework.
If you’re curious about how ACT can help you shift out of reactive patterns, check out my blog post: “Unhook from Overthinking: ACT Therapy Tools to Live With Purpose.”
A Little More About Judy Wang
When I’m not in session, you’ll usually find me hanging out with my two rescue dogs, Lucy and Archie. They try their best to stay quiet while I’m working, though occasionally they feel called to provide “additional therapeutic support.” Archie was well on his way to becoming a therapy dog before the pandemic derailed his plans and now he’s retired. Lucy mostly just wants treats and cuddles.
They are available for coaching sessions and accept dog treats as payment.
